Two Graves on Private Land, Now Charges Upgraded to Murder

BAILEY, Miss.–If you remember last week, and how could you forget, when two shallow graves were found by Lauderdale County deputies on a piece of land where a sex offender and his companion were living, the charges against neighbor Carl Wesley Bell were upgraded from accessory to murder Thursday.

It looks like drugs were probably involved.

Sheriff Billy Sollie told TV station WTOK that Bell used a 9 mm in the murders of Algene Grant and his companion.

Nobody had seen them for several weeks when deputies went looking. They brought a warrant to search the property and found the graves.

Bell was originally charged with accessory and then neighbors starting coming forward with more info.

Connie McAllister, also arrested in the case, will still be charged with accessory.
