Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis, two family-friendly, oceanfront cities on the Mississippi Gulf coast, were recently listed in ‘Southern Living’s 15 Affordable Small Towns We Love’.

Mayor Shea Dobson of Ocean Springs said although it’s a small town, they still have something for everyone.
“We have our arts, we have our nightlife and entertainment, we have everything that’s growing on the east side of town, and we’re seeing a lot of businesses coming in, so we’re really just excited about the future,” said Dobson. “We’re building on what we have and just encourage everybody to come check out our nightlife or our arts and see what kind of gem we are because I think we’re the gem of the coast.”
He said it felt amazing to be on that list and gives all credit to the residents of Ocean Springs.
“I think when you go back to a town where the residents support the community and the non-profits, support the businesses, support the city and all the projects we have to put on, that’s what it really takes,” said Dobson. “Whenever we get something like this, an award or recognition about everyone’s hard work, that really puts a smile on everybody’s face so I just can’t say enough about it and I know all the residents, the city workers, the chamber, all the non-profits, the museums, and everything we have here, everybody is just excited and really honored.”
He said they may not be the richest or biggest community, but what they do have is world class and people who are passionate and care about the community, and with that, you can go far.
