Unit at Parchman Back on Lockdown After Weekend Assaults

JACKSON, MISS– The Mississippi Department of Corrections says three officers were attacked in two separate events over the weekend at Parchman, causing Unit 29 to be on lockdown again. 

Lockdown means that commissary use, phone use, and visitation privileges are suspended until further notice.

MDOC posted on Facebook:

PARCHMAN BACK ON LOCKDOWN
Parchman’s Unit 29 is back on lockdown after two incidents of inmate-on-staff assaults.
Commissary, visitation, and telephone privileges are suspended as prison officials investigate the assaults occurring Friday and Saturday. Three officers – one Friday and two Saturday – suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
