Veteran Deputy Clerk Arrested For Voter Fraud

UNION COUNTY, Miss. –A Union County Deputy Circuit Clerk is facing voter fraud charges.

Rhonda Dowdy, of New Albany, was arrested earlier this week.  Investigators with the state Attorney General’s office say she changed the addresses of residents to make it look as if they live in the county when they didn’t in exchange for their vote for a specific candidate.  Investigators would not say which candidate is involved, nor whether the candidate was aware of what Dowdy is accused of doing.

Dowdy, who has worked for the Union County Circuit Clerk’s office since 1987, was taken  to the Tippah County jail and released on her own recognizance.
