Victim of Deadly Jet Ski Accident Identified; Bond Set For Suspect

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. — The victim of Tuesday’s Jet Ski collision on a private lake in Rankin County has been identified as 29-year-old Bessonette of Pearl. 

Investigators said Bessonette was skiing at the main lake in the Robin Hood community, south of Brandon when he collided with John Craig Simpson of Florence.  Simpson was transported to the hospital where he was treated than arrested on a culpable negligence manslaughter charge.  Investigators said he may have been drinking.  Simpson was in court Wednesday, and his bond set at $150,000.

Bessonette’s body was taken to the Mississippi Crime Lab for an autopsy.
