WEATHER ALERT: Extreme heat threatening Mississippi this week

Courtesy of National Weather Service Jackson, MS

Temperatures in the low- to mid-90s today will couple with high humidity across the state to create extreme heat indices across the state today.

Indices will range from 100 to 110 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for areas west of the I-55 corridor ranging from the Tennessee line in the north to Adams County in the south. That doesn’t mean areas of the Gulf Coast will be any milder, however. The heat index for Biloxi is expected to reach 109 today.

Be sure to use extreme caution as you work outside today. Take plenty of breaks, drink lots of water BEFORE you plan to work outside, and stay near a place where you can sit and cool down.
