2-year-old child found in house with marijuana, guns

Hinds County Special Operations Investigators along with Richland Police seized money, marijuana and a firearm.

Sheriff’s officials said they received information regarding illegal drug activity taking place at a residence located at 268 Austin Circle in Byram, Ms.

On Thursday, February 01, 2018 around 10:00 a.m. deputies along with the Richland Police discovered nearly five pounds of weed, some cash and a shotgun in the residence. Deputies also discovered a 2-year-old child in the house.

35-year old Cory Davis of Jackson was taken into custody and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Child Endangerment.

“It is especially disturbing to find a child present in the home where illegal drugs and weapons are located,” said Major Pete Luke “The child was turned over to a family member.”

Davis is currently being held at the Raymond Detention Center.
