JSU Leads State in Firings

JACKSON, Miss. – This Mississippi University has fired more employees than anyone else.

Since 2011, Jackson State University has fired 351 employees. That’s more six other public universities across Mississippi.

According to some former employees, current university president Carolyn Meyers is the problem.

Former Dean Ally Mack told The Clarion-Ledger that Meyers began cursing at interim Provost Quinton Williams after an undergraduate commencement ceremony back in 2011. Shortly thereafter, Williams was removed from the graduate commencement.

SInce 2011, JSU has been sued approximately 20 times by former and current employees. Ole Miss, in that same period of time, has been sued five times, while both Southern Miss and Mississippi State haven’t been sued at all.
