JACKSON, Miss.- Mississippi Blood Services has announced that this week marks “Donor Days.”
This time of year often brings a shortage of blood with it so MBS is encouraging people to become a blood donor. If you donate at a Flowood blood bank this week you’ll even get a t-shirt that says “Lifesaver.”
Officials say that a patient who has suffered injuries in something like a car crash requires fifty units of blood. Cancer patients could need up to eight units a week, and many hospitals just need blood in stock in case of an emergency.
Every time you donate blood you’re making a lifesaving difference in three people, according to statistics.
