Three people are dead following a plane crash in north Mississippi on Saturday.
According to University-Oxford Airport Supervisor Bubba Daniels, the flight bound for Alabama’s Marion County-Rankin Fite Airport took off around 3:20 on Saturday afternoon. The plane went down in a wooded area near New Albany early into the flight, but Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards stated that the crash site wasn’t located until around 10:30 p.m.
The victims of the crash have been identified as Tommy and Merline Nix, along with Jarrod Holloway. Tommy and Holloway were co-piloting the plane when it went down.
While storms were prevalent across the state on Saturday, officials have not determined if the weather was a contributing factor in the crash. While giving an update on the severe weather during a press conference, Governor Phil Bryant said that time will tell if weather played a part in the crash.
“There will be a thorough investigation, and we’ll be able to determine the cause of the crash sometime in the future, but it is impossible to tell just now whether or not it was weather related,” Governor Bryant said.

Edwards stated that it was raining at the time of the crash, but severe weather conditions weren’t present.
The FAA and NTSB will now be handling the investigation into the crash of the Rockwell Sabreliner 65 aircraft.
