Hinds County Narcotics Investigators discovered 46 pounds of Crystal Meth and over 2 lbs. of powder Cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 20 near Gallatin St.
The Hinds County Investigator stopped a 2009 BMW on I-20 near Gallatin St. for careless driving on Wednesday. The two were headed to Atlanta, Ga. from Dallas, TX. Deputies at the scene said that the driver and passenger became nervous as they questioned them. The deputies were alerted by a Narcotics K-9 of the drugs that were located in the trunk. The passenger fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot chase.
The driver, Enrique Garzon, 25 of Charlotte, NC, and a passenger, Jessie Trejo, 22 of Loganville, GA. were taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Trafficking of a Controlled Substance.
Both Garzon and Trejo are being held at the Raymond Detention Center.
