Amite county jail escapee now back in prison

AMITE COUNTY, MISS– The Amite County inmate who escaped nearly two weeks ago is now back in custody, confirmed the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Michael Wayne Young’s capture and subsequent charges were posted on the MDOC Facebook page.

Young, MDOC #169703, escaped October 15. He was recaptured, and was transported to Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County on Wednesday evening after being caught in Pike County.

The 42-year-old faces additional charges related to his escape, which occurred shortly after he had been sentenced for escape in Franklin County. He also was convicted as a felon in possession of a weapon when he was sentenced on Sept. 19. He received two five-year concurrent terms to serve.
