Animal Cruelty Case Involving Dozens of Dogs

HAMILTON, Miss.–The Monroe County woman has plead guilty to animal cruelty.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department arrested 40-year-old Cindy Ann House earlier this year in what Sheriff Cecil Cantrell called a bad situation.

“It involved over 80 to 90 dogs that were kept in kennels and some on the back porch,” he said.

House plead guilty Thursday to 13 counts in Monroe County Justice Court.

“Some of the dogs were in really bad condition.”

Sheriff Cantrell speculated that she might have a hoarding problem didn’t know of any specific motive as to why she had accumulated the dogs.

House has been fined just over $15,000 and has had to pay over $5,700 in restitution.
