Another Arrest for Attack in Mississippi; Allegedly Tied to Missouri Shooting Controversy

WEST POINT, Miss. – Police have arrested a third suspect in the alleged racially motivated beating of a man at a West Point Huddle House earlier this year.

Constance McFarland, 21, was taken into custody in Aberdeen and charged with aggravated assault.

Marquavious McMillian and Courtez McMillian were arrested shortly after the August attack which left Ralph Weems, who is white, with brain damage.  A man with him told police the conflict first started at another restaurant where they had been warned that people inside were upset about Michael Brown’s killing in Ferguson, Missouri.  After police ordered them to leave, the man said they went to Huddle House, where they were approached again and eventually beaten.  West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley said they are still investigating the case and talking to other witnesses.  “We knew from the beginning that this was a very complex case.  We are making arrests as the investigation continues and leads develop.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the police department at 662.494.1244
