Jefferson Parish–Jaren Lockhart was dancing on Bourbon Street to pay her bills. Days later parts of her body washed ashore in Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis.
And now two years later The Times-Picayune reports that Margaret Sanchez, 30 and Terry Speaks, 41 are charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
Speaks has a record… failure to register as a sex offender, time in federal prison in New York. He was set to serve there until he was transferred to Kenner Louisiana for this case.
The two brought Jaren Lockhart to a private party in New Orleans in 2012. Lockhart died of a single stab wound to the chest. They then discarded her body parts along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Sanchez and Speaks are looking at life in prison with no chance of seeing sunlight again. Their next hearing is set for September 5th.
