Auto theft ring has been identified and charged

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss.- The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department have tracked down what they’re calling an auto theft ring.

Sheriff Mike Ezell said he believes the individuals involved in this ring are responsible for stealing at least eight vehicles that have been recovered, and they’re looking for two more.

Police arrested Eric Crews, Pam Ryan, Jacob Teaugue, Joshua Wenger, and Lacey Jones and charged them each with two counts of felony taking of a motor vehicle, according to local media.

Officials said the ring was discovered after deputies were called on Christmas night to Insurance Auto Auctions on Old Stage Road in Moss Point while a burglary was in progress.

They attempted to stop an SUV that was leaving the property but could not, however, they found that same SUV on Monday morning and arrested the driver, Crews. The vehicle had been stolen from the auction property.

That arrest led to the additional arrest of the other individuals and the recovery of seven more vehicles.
