Baby Left in Storage Unit, Mom to be Charged After Hospital Stay

HOUSTON, Miss.–A baby was left in a storage unit in Houston Friday. The mom is at North Miss. Medical Center, but Houston Police Chief Billy Voyles told media this weekend that she will be charged once she is released.

The baby is doing okay at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

The circumstances surrounding the abandonment were still unclear to media. The police chief declined to release basic information, like the address where the baby was left or the name of the mom.

He said his officers would interview her once she is released, and he is not sure yet what charges she’ll face.

WTVA reported the mom had been in trouble before when she dropped a baby off at the Salvation Army in 2010.
