BB King in Home Hospice Care, May Have Had a Mild Heart Attack Thursday

LAS VEGAS, Nev.–Internationally-renowned bluesman BB King is in home hospice care, according to his official website. The89-year-old, who lives in Las Vegas, has had several health issues lately, and the latest may have been a mild heart attack Thursday, reported the website TMZ.

The site lists Las Vegas Police as a source, saying they were called to King’s home Thursday when King’s manager, Laverne Toney, and his daughter could not agree on what kind of medical care he should have. Police may have made the decision to get him to the hospital.

The website also said King’s family has accused Toney of taking valuables, like a Rolex, and up to $20 million from the ailing blues man.

King, who was born near Itta Bena, is undoubtedly one of Mississippi’s greatest musical ambassadors, having traveled the world over many times with his band and his Gibson 335 he calls “Lucille”.

“There’s a display in the museum (BB KIng Museum) where he had like 250 dates a year and that’s just amazing,” said Chip Mitchell, Delta State English and blues professor.

King was forced to cancel his tour dates and stop performing last year.

“I am in home hospice care at my residence in Las Vegas,” read a message on his website Friday night. “Thanks to all for your well wishes and prayers.”
