BB King’s Death Was Due to Alzheimer’s and Other Physical Problems, Not Poison

LAS VEGAS, Nev.–The primary cause of BB King’s death was Alzheimer’s disease and a number of other ailment’s, not poison, said a report from the Clark County coroner’s office in Las Vegas. Two of King’s daughter’s requested the autopsy because they said they believed he was poisoned.

The coroner’s office released a preliminary cause of death when King died May 14, at 89. At that point his death was attributed to his Type II diabetes.

FOX 5, KVVU, in Las Vegas reported that Coroner John Funderberg, who presided over the autopsy, said King also died from coronary artery atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus type II, congestive heart failure, hypertension and cerebrovascular disease.

“At this point we can say with confidence that Mr. King died of natural causes. Our condolences go out to the family and many friends of Mr. King, and we hope this determination brings them some measure of closure,” said Funderberg..
