Big Hotel Development Coming to Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss.–A new hotel and restaurant development is expected to break ground in Meridian over the next month.

Ascent Hospitality president and co-founder John Tampa announced his plan for two properties in the city at the Tuesday city council meeting.

“The plan is to build to build a Fairfield Inn a Marriott property, and Town Place Suite extended stay,” said city spokesman Kurt Goldacker.

Tampa told the city council he plans to break ground in 30 days between I-20 and Hwy. 80 near the Cracker Barrel.

“We look for them to be open in mid-summer of 2014,” said Goldacker.

Tampa is asking the city council to provide access roads for the construction.

The summer games last year saw every room in Meridian completely booked up and Goldacker said this will help bring other events to Meridian in the future.
