UPDATED: Names Released in Oxford Bound Plane Crash in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Georgia– A twin engine jet bound for Oxford, Mississippi, has crashed in the middle of interstate 285 in Atlanta, and the Federal Aviation Administration says four people have died. 

Update 1:44pm  CBS 46 in Atlanta has confirmed the identities of the passengers aboard that plane.

The pilot was Greg Byrd of Asheville, NC. Greg and his two sons Phillip Byrd and Christopher Byrd, along with Christopher’s fiancee Jackie Kulzer, and a pet were killed in that crash. They were on their way to see Greg’s son Robert Byrd graduate from Ole Miss on Saturday.

Phillip and Christopher Byrd are Greg’s sons and Kulzer is Christopher’s fiancé.

The family was flying to see Greg’s son Robert Byrd graduate from the University of Mississippi Saturday.

Update 1:22pm– Fox News 13 Memphis confirms the four killed in the plane crash were the father, two brothers, and the student’s fiancee. The family was traveling to Oxford for a student’s graduation set for tomorrow.

12:53pm—- Sources close to News Mississippi have confirmed that the 4 travelers were family members of a student set to graduate from Ole Miss tomorrow. The Dekalb County Coroner confirms  to News Mississippi 3 males, one female, and a pet onboard.

The Federal Aviation Administration tells WSB -TV in Atlanta that the plane took off from DeKalb-Peachtree airport, carrying four passengers to Oxford, Mississippi. Not long after takeoff, the plane crashed.

One eyewitness tells WSB that the plane clipped his tractor trailer as it crashed.

News Mississippi has put in a call to the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, and will continue to update as more develops.

Fox 5 News in Atlanta reports three males, one female, and a pet were on board. No ages or names released at the moment.
