Brighter Futures Ahead

JACKSON, Miss.- Dropout rates decreasing and graduation rates increasing. Mississippi is buckling down on education. Although high school graduation rates are high for some schools in Mississippi, they are still really low for others. Some schools have a graduation rate of 90% and above, but nearly 30 schools have a graduation rate lower than 60%.

The Mississippi Department of Education said the average 4 year graduation rate in Mississippi is at 75.5% and the dropout rate is 13.9%. The graduation rate is the highest since they’ve began doing their calculations back in 2007. Iowa had the highest at 88% and the lowest was Nevada at 62%.
