Building Named After “Blind Side” Ole Miss Family

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss will name its basketball practice facility for the family that adopted Michael Oher and inspired the book and movie, “The Blind Side.”

The State College Board approved the name Thursday, saying the Tuohy family had made a significant contribution to the school’s athletic fundraising campaign.

Sean Tuohy played basketball for the school in the early 1980s and was inducted into the Ole Miss Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.  Several years after that, his wife, Leigh Anne, received the Legacy Award from the Ole Miss Women’s Council for Philanthropy.

The Memphis couple took Oher in when he was 16 and adopted him a year later. He eventually played football for Ole Miss and was drafted into the NFL.
