Bullets Sprayed in Jackson Monday Evening

JACKSON, Miss.–A shootout in the capital city left one dead, and four others injured Monday evening.

A spattering of gun fire broke out at Sunset Plaza Apartments when police were called to the scene.

“In reference to four aggravated assaults and one person who was deceased.” said Jackson Police Officer Colendula Green.

The identity of the 24-year-old who was killed in the shootout has not been released.

“There were over 150 to 200 rounds fired in total,” said Officer Green.

The motive was still unclear early Tuesday morning as to exactly why the shooting started.

Green said the JPD detectives are still processing evidence and the other four people do not have life-threating injuries.
