Business Mogul to President: Donald Trump becomes 45th president of the United States

JACKSON, MISS– Surely the eyes of the entire world were on The United States of America as Donald Trump dominated the polls in states that were expected to swing in Hillary Clinton’s favor.

A few facts about the historical weight of this presidency:

  • Donald Trump has become the first person to be elected as the Commander-in-Chief without prior political experience.
  • Donald Trump has never served in the military, as prior presidents.
  • The Senate and House maintained Republican control. A Republican House, Senate, and Presidency working together is the first of its kind since 1928.

The Associated Press and Fox News called the election for Donald Trump just after 1:40am on Wednesday morning.

Pennsylvania was the final state to be called, pushing him over the threshold at 274 electoral votes. Only 270 were needed to win the election.

Fox News reported Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump to concede.

Vice President elect Mike Pence took to the stage to claim victory.

“I’m deeply grateful to the American people,” said Pence… for giving us this opportunity to serve.”

Pence then introduced Donald Trump, the President Elect of the United States of America.

Trump, stepping out before the crowd, took several moments, soaking in the gravity of the historic moment, as the crowds cheered him on. He appeared to be overwhelmed as he shook Mike Pence’s hand, and hugged his family before taking to the podium.

“USA! USA! USA!” the crowd chanted.

“Sorry for keeping you waiting,” said Trump. “Complicated business.”

Trump said Clinton called to congratulate him.

“Hillary has worked very hard for a very long period of time,” said Trump. “Now we owe her for her service to this country… it is time for us to come together as one united people.”

He added he’s for everyone.

“I pledge that I’ll be for every citizen,” said Trump. “This is so important for me… so we can unify our great country.”

Trump said his campaign wasn’t just a campaign, but a movement of people who want a better, brighter future for their country.

“They want a government who will serve their people,” said Trump. “And serve the people it will.”

Trump said he sees tremendous potential, and he wants to apply his business knowledge to how he will run the country.

“We are going to fix our inner cities,” said Trump. “We’re going to rebuild our infrastructure.. which will become, by the way, second to none.”

Trump added that veterans will be taken care of, and that taking care of them is a great honor.

“We will call upon the best and brightest.. for the benefit of all,” said Trump. “We’ll have the best economy in the world… and we’ll have great relationships.”

Trump summed up his ideas for the country, and his victory speech, what this election has surely proven.

“No dream is too big,” said President Elect Trump.

Mississippi politicians have begun to respond to the election. U.S. Senator Thad Cochran released this statement:

“I congratulate President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence on being chosen to lead this great country. The people have voted for change and for leadership to deal with the serious challenges facing our nation. Now in the great tradition of our American democracy, it is time to unite toward a common purpose. I look forward to working with the new administration and my colleagues in the Senate to make our nation more secure and prosperous.”
