Cameras to come for Pascagoula bridge

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss.- A large donation was made to WAVE efforts for cameras on Pascagoula bridge.

After a year long effort to raise $10,000, a large check was written to the organization to put in new security cameras on the bridge. The donation of $8,000 was made by former attorney Bob Wilson. Wilson practiced law in Pascagoula but has now moved to Oxford. He heard about Wave’s efforts and decided to give back, reports WLOX.

The WAVE organization was overwhelmed with the generosity. They have been trying to raise this money for close to a year after a woman was sexually assaulted on the bridge in 2014.

The rest of the money came from Charter Bank, the Trehern Foundation, and other private donors. Police mention that even with the cameras in place you still need to be careful in the area. The surveillance will be around the clock so if there is an incident it will be recorded.
