Child shot through backseat in critical condition

The Jackson Police Department said that on Saturday, June 17, 2017 an eight-year-old boy was shot in the back of the head while in the backseat.

Richard Kyles was riding in the vehicle driven by his mother, Deneka Frazier, when a shot was fired into the backseat, striking him in the head.

Kyles was taken to UMMC for treatment and was listed in critical condition.

As police began to investigate they found that a white Chevy Impala that was driven by Lakie Bradley, 35, followed the vehicle Frazier was driving down Revere Street. Once on Revere a single shot was fired by the front passenger, identified as 26-year-old Kendrick Jackson.

Jackson also happened to be the ex-boyfriend of Frazier and had recently been making threats toward her.

Both Jackson and Bradley were picked up by police at Club Elite on Terry Road following a traffic stop. They were both arrested for Aggravated Assault and Shooting in an Occupied Vehicle.
