Choppers, Dogs and the SWAT Team: Search for Michael Wright to Continue Friday

UTICA, Miss.–It was a big effort to find Michael Wright Thursday that intensified once police knew more about what happened. That info came from his kidnapped ex-girlfriend Sharice Latham, who was able to get away and drive herself to safety when Wright got out of the car.

Troopers, deputies and the SWAT team suspended the search Thursday night, but kept cops at strategic places in the area where they believe Wright is, and they’re being careful. They think he’s armed with a shotgun.

Wright, 37, of Canton, is believed to have killed Latham’s uncle, Jerry Brent, 55, at his Utica home Wednesday before kidnapping Latham and going on the run. He was already out of jail on bond after being arrested for the killing of another ex-girlfriend in Panola County in 2012.

The search was expected to get underway again daylight Friday and includes the Metro One helicopter.
