New Education Leader says New Ole Miss President Priority

JACKSON, Miss.– Former Holmes County Community College President Glenn Boyce has been named Mississippi’s new Commissioner of Higher Education.

The State College Board made the announcement Friday morning after selecting Boyce in executive session Thursday.  Boyce was named President of Homes Community college in 2005, but left in June to work as associate commissioner for academic affairs.  He will replace Hank Bounds as Commissioner and said his first priority will be to find a new Chancellor for Ole Miss.

Jim Borsig had been chosen as Higher Education Commissioner, but turned the job down April 9, saying he wanted to remain as President of the Mississippi University for Women.
