College Tuition Rising Again in Miss.

JACKSON, Miss.–It seems like every year tuition gets more expensive to go to college, and this fall will be no different.

There are only four out of 15 community colleges that aren’t raising tuition going into the next school year.

“Across our system it’s about a six percent increase each year which equates to about $134 more,” said Eric Clark who is Director of the State Community College Board when talking about the usual yearly hikes.

Clark pointed out one of the reasons every year that prices rise.

“The cost of everything in terms of providing the education for students goes up,” he said and that is passed on to the student.

According to Clark the money that comes from the state to community colleges for each student is severely low and until that is raised, it is likely this trend will continue.
