Comedy in Mississippi: Hub City Comedy Attracting Big Names

HATTIESBURG, Miss– Hub City Comedy, a group of comedians in Hattiesburg, has taken the last few years to not only showcase local funny folks, but bring in big names as well.

Hub City Comedy is the only group of its kind in Mississippi. They’re based in Hattiesburg now, with big plans to branch out.

“We’ve got plans to do a monthly show in Jackson,” says Jamie Arrington, one of the starting members of Hub City Comedy. Arrington says they’re planning gigs for Starkville and Gulfport as well.

“We’ll continue to branch out,” says Arrington.

Over the years, Hub City Comedy has gone from a small group of locals to bringing big names like Tom Segura, Killer Beaz, and Hannibal Buress, who was most recently on Comedy Central’s The Roast of Justin Beiber.

Two big shows are coming to Hub City Comedy. The first is Todd Barry on April 8th at Brewsky’s in Hattiesburg.

“He’s done all the late night shows, Letterman, Conan,” says Arrington.

Then April 14th Mississippi native Tig Notaro will perform her very first Mississippi show since working on projects with Showtime and HBO.
