Coroner rules death “natural” after body found in pick-up

A Monroe County man found dead inside his pick-up Monday near Westville died due to natural causes, said Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley.

Witnesses said the truck left highway 8 as it was traveling west on highway 8 east near Shields Circle headed toward Aberdeen. The truck struck a fence and a tree. The driver was wearing a seat belt and the airbags deployed. He did not appear to have any injuries.

The driver has been identified as Michael D. Watson, Age 53 of Monroe County.

The initial call was made just after 11am on Monday.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol investigation the crash.  Coroner Gurley said no further autopsy is planned.

Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory is handling arrangements.
