Councilwoman hit by vehicle outside church

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss.- Wendy McDonald, a Bay St. Louis councilwoman was hit by a vehicle while standing in front of Our Lady of the Gulf Church. 

WLOX reports that McDonald and others were injured when a vehicle drove into the crowd of people attending a funeral visitation on Monday morning.

Witnesses say McDonald was thrown into the air when she was hit by the vehicle. She was transported to the hospital immediately.

She was airlifted to Ochsner Health Center in New Orleans where a CT scan showed she did have a skull fracture and bleeding in her head.

She underwent surgery to stop the bleeding in her brain but will have to have plastic surgery on her right eye and ear.
