Current/ Ex City Leaders Sentenced In Equipment Scam

PEARL, Miss. — Six current and former Bassfiled city workers have been given 10 year suspended sentences and five-years-probation for fraudulently obtaining equipment from the state’s Surplus Property and converting it to their own person use.

State Auditor Stacy Pickering announced Thursday that the majority of the boats, labtop computers, travel trailers and heavy equipment, valued at more than $309,000 have been returned.   And one former work has to make restitution for two times that were not recovered.
