GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. — A George County Sheriff Deputy was killed in the line of duty early Tuesday morning.

Investigators said Deputy John Street, 24, was responding to an accident when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree.  Street leaves behind a wife and two children.  “We ask for prayers for his family and the officers and staff of the George County Sheriff’s office and the Lucedale Police Department,” said a written statement from the Sheriff’s Department.

Street worked part time in George County.  He also worked full time with the Lucedale Police Department and had been in law enforcement for almost four years.
