Danny Dissipates, Erika Takes Up the Slack, Small Chance She’ll Head for the Gulf

MIAMI, Fla.–Once Hurricane Danny is all but gone, expected to dump rain in Puerto Rico as a low pressure system. But a new tropical storm has taken its place and its path: Erika. There is a small chance it could head into the Gulf, according to path projections Tuesday morning, so News Mississippi is watching.

Erika had maximum sustained winds at 45 mph and was moving west towards the Bahamas, at 20 mph.

It was expected to stay a tropical storm over the next five days.
