Dead After Shooting, Brother-in-Law of State Rep. Tom Miles

SCOTT COUNTY, Miss.–The brother-in-law of state Rep. Tom Miles is dead after he was shot twice during a fight in Scoot County. The shooting happened Saturday night after Bradley Harrison and Allen Barnes got into a fight at a home in a rural part of the county. Harrison died early Sunday.

Sheriff Mike Lee told media that Harrison and Barnes were at Barnes’ home on Old Hwy. 80, when they got into a fight about 11:30 Saturday night. That’s when Barnes pulled a gun and shot Harrison in the leg and back.

Harrison, of Lake, then jumped on a four-wheeler and took off.

Barnes called deputies to report the shooting. Harrison was found on the side of the road, beside the four-wheeler. He was airlifted to UMMC in Jackson, where he died shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday.

No charges had been filed as of Sunday.

State Rep. Tom Miles Tweeted the following:

As many of you know, our family has suffered a tragedy. Now, I seek your compassion and respect for the privacy of all who have been affected as we do the best we can to cope with these heartbreaking circumstances. As we go through the difficult times ahead, we ask that you continue to remember us all in your prayers, and we thank you for your kind expressions of concern.
