Deputy Hit by Drunk Driver

MOOREVILLE, Miss.- A Lee County sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being hit by a drunk driver Saturday night.

A spokesman told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal deputies were set up at a roadside safety checkpoint on Highway 371 near Mooreville when a vehicle failed to stop at the checkpoint, striking one of the deputies.

The deputy was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Audonus D. Taylor, 45, was arrested and charged with DUI.
