Ex-MDOC Worker Gets Jail Time for Stealing Inmates’ Personal Info

 RANKIN, Miss. – A former Mississippi Department of Corrections employee will serve 20 months in prison for conspiracy to defraud the government.

LaDonna Cooper, 30, pleaded guilty to stealing names and social security numbers of inmates at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.  The information was eventually used to file false tax returns.

Cooper has also been ordered to pay back $222,000 and serve three years supervised release following her time in jail.
