Ex-USM Student Sent to Prison for Possession of Child Pornography

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – A former University of Southern Mississippi student has been sentenced to 80 months in federal prison for having images of child pornography.

Miles J. McNairy, 25, was arrested in 2013.  At the time, he was a student at USM and police accused him of downloading and sharing  child pornography that he brought to Hattiesburg from his Aberdeen home.  Miles pleaded guilty in October, 2014.

During his sentencing this week, McNairy was told that after he is freed from prison, he would also have to register as a sex offender and report to a probation officer for the rest of his life.
