Families First hosts children’s book drive

Throughout the month of March, Families First For Mississippi is hosting a children’s book drive across the state.

Today, they have partnered with Banner Hall to be a drop-off point in the Jackson metro area for new or gently-used books that will then go toward families throughout Mississippi.

For every donation, Broad Street Baking Company will give you a slice of king cake. If you don’t know what to buy, you can purchase kids’ books on the second floor at Lemuria Books.

Families First stated that building a strong foundation in literacy is the core of success for children. They have placed a strategic emphasis on building literacy programs to reach the whole family.

If you are interested in participating in the book drive, here is where they will be held throughout the state.

March 1st Jackson: Kick-off at Banner Hall (4465 N Hwy 550) 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Drop off gently used books or purchase new books from Lemuria and receive a piece of king cake donated by Broad Street Bakery.  Reading and activity time for children will be at 12:00 pm in Lemuria.
