For the second week in a row, a company has announced plans to create new jobs in Mississippi.
According to a news release from Governor Bryant’s office, leading industrial supply company Fastenal is locating a distribution center in Madison County. The project is an $11.5 million investment and will create 60 jobs over the next three years.
“Fastenal’s decision to locate in Mississippi shows we have the right tools for global companies to grow their operations. The state’s skilled workforce and logistical advantages make Mississippi a top destination for any company looking to accelerate their business,” Governor Bryant said.
Fastenal provides companies with fasteners, tools and supplies needed to manufacture products, build structures and maintain facilities and equipment. The new 129,000-square-foot Madison County distribution center, the company’s 15thin North America, will be located off of Sowell Road.
“We have been fortunate to find great people, form a great team and achieve years of strong growth. As the business grows, we are constantly looking at ways to supplement the strength of our supply chain and our distribution network. This project allows us to strengthen the distribution network, which in turn supports our branch and Onsite network and ultimately supports our customer,” said Fastenal CEO Dan Florness.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for site preparation and infrastructure improvements. Madison County is providing assistance for infrastructure improvements, as well.

Construction of the distribution center will begin this fall and is expected to be complete by fall of 2019.

Last week, Raytheon announced a $100 million investment which will create new jobs in the Forest area as the company builds a new 50,000 square foot facility which is expected to be completed in early 2020.
