Fire Kills Three Children in Byhalia, How You Can Help

BYHALIA, Miss.–Three children are dead after a fire Saturday morning at their grandmother’s home in Byhalia. That includes an 8-month old girl and one and two-year-old boys. Their grandmother and other relatives tried several times to save the children, but were pushed back by smoke and flames.

The fire happened at Annette Tate’s home. She told Action News 5 that she woke up and could hear the two-year-old hollering.

She was in the room with the 8-month-old girl, but ran down the hall to try and save the other children. She grabbed her phone and went out on the front porch to call for help when she saw that the smoke was too much.

Once Tate got back inside, the whole house had caught up and there wasn’t much she could do, she told the TV station.

Another relative tried to help, but the fire was out of control.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete as of Monday morning. A GoiFundMe account had been set up to help pay for the funerals. Here is the link: http://www.gofundme.com/jcuwa8 .By Monday $1,510 had been raised.
