First Solar Power Plots Coming to Mississippi

Jackson, Miss– Entergy Mississippi announced the location for the first of three solar power plots in Mississippi, as part of the “Bright Future” program launch.

There will be three plots. One in Hinds County, one in Desoto County, and one in Lincoln County. The Hinds County plot will be almost like a garden of solar power. Rows of solar energy panels “planted” in the ground next to the Hinds Generating Facility.

Haley Fisackerly, CEO of Entergy, says the plot isn’t just for bringing solar energy to Mississippi, but studying it.

“We get questions all the time about solar power and the honest answer is, without a project like this, we just don’t know how efficient it will be,’ says Fisackerly.

The plots will allow for Entergy to study how solar energy works, how it is most efficiently used, and does so without little impact to the customer’s wallets. The pilot program, with all three plots combined, will serve about 175 Mississippi homes with solar energy.
