Flags Will Fly at Half-Staff in Memory of Justice Scalia

Jackson, Miss– Gov. Phil Bryant has ordered Mississippi and American flags flying at state buildings and on state grounds immediately lowered to half-staff.

This Executive Order comes after the death of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who died of an apparent heart attack Saturday.

“I am grateful to Justice Scalia for his service to our nation as an exceptional jurist and champion of the Constitution,” Senator Thad Cochran says, ” His legacy will be as an intellect who influenced our nation and the court as a clear, consistent voice of conservative principles.  I am proud to have known and supported him.”

“I extend my sincere condolences to his wife and family.”

“Justice Scalia was the greatest legal mind of our time and will be missed by all who love this nation and what it stands for.  On a personal note, I will miss our duck hunts in the Mississippi Delta.  He enjoyed our great state and its people.  Mississippi has lost a friend.”
