Former Biloxi mayor dies at 93

BILOXI,Miss.- Former mayor of Biloxi Jerry O’Keefe has passed away at the age of 93. 

O’Keefe received the Congressional Gold Medal for serving as afighter pilot in World War II. He died early Tuesday morning,according to his granddaughter, Justice O’Keefe Duhon.

O’Keefe worked at his families funeral business after the war until he bought Bradford Service and merged the two creating Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home.

He was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 1959 where he served four years and was then elected as mayor of Biloxi in 1973 and served for eight years.
