Former Candidate for Governor, Current Hattiesburg Mayor Found in Contempt of Court

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- Hattiesburg mayor Johnny Dupree has been found in contempt of court. It was a full day of testimony from several parties for the civil contempt of court hearing for the mayor not submitting a qualified candidate to be nominated for the city’s Chief of Police.

Judge Hillburn ruled that the mayor has not done his due diligence in presenting a formidable candidate.

He set sanctions for Dupree that will take place July 10th.

For every day that Dupree does not have a nominee for Chief of Police, there will be a $150 fine.
