Former Diamondhead City Manager Arrested for Perjury

DIAMONDHEAD, Miss.- A former employee of the city of Diamondhead was arrested after he was indicted on perjury charges. The Attorney General announced Thursday that former city manager Richard Rose turned himself in to authorities at the Harrison County Detention Center. He apparently perjured himself in the Mississippi Department of Employment Security Board of Review last August.

Rose was recorded in April 2014, making demands for a year’s salary in exchange for not releasing incriminating information about then-Mayor of Diamondhead Tommy Schaefer, but he swore that he never made such demands. He swore to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth in the matter.

Rose was booked into Harrison County and then later released on bond. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years behind bars.
