Former Forrest Co. Sheriff’s Chief Deputy let go amid charges

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The Forrest County Sheriff’s Department has terminated Chief Deputy Charles Bolton as of Thursday. Bolton and his wife Linda Bolton, were each found guilty of five counts of filing false tax returns. Charles was also charged with four counts of tax evasion from 2010 to 2013.

Forest County Sheriff Billy McGee told News Mississippi Bolton was allowed to keep his job even after charges were filed by the U.S. Attorney’s office, however now that he has been convicted his termination was inevitable.

Sentencing for the couple will begin on December 19.
