Former Moss Point Coach Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of a Student

MOSS POINT, Miss.- 45-year-old Micoe Cotton, a former PE teacher and boys basketball coach at Moss Point High School, plead guilty to sexually abusing a female student back in March. He was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison for his actions.

Cotton plead guilty on March 20th to two counts of sexual battery while in a position of trust or authority, along with exploitation of a child.

Court records indicate that the incidents occurred from the time the student was in 9th grade until the time she was in 11th grade. Investigators told WLOX that Cotton filmed the abuse on his cell phone.

Cotton will serve all 25 years of his sentence, and then five years of probation to follow. He also racked up about $15,000 in fines and register as a sex offender.
